“The Catch” - My Journey on How I Become a Freelancer
Updated: Apr 29, 2021

What's the Catch?
Many or some people often use an expression when there is a really great offer and “It’s too good to be true” or in exchange for something valuable to you. Normally “The Catch” benefits someone else’s but in my case, I would like to believe that it led me to something good in the end...and that is becoming a freelancer.

The Catch Throughout My Journey
My journey begins. I am a wife and a mother of one. I am proud to say that I am a hands-on mother. We are all together, my husband and I both have worked. Basically, I can say that our life was okay, but the catch? We can’t stay to be "just okay". My daughter is growing and so as her needs. We need to do something!
So, I gave up my 10 years career in a bank and ventured a career onboard International Cruise Lines believing it will improve our standard of living. Well, it did! With all the perks we are getting from me working in a dollar-paid company abroad, here’s the catch! A good life... but away from my family.
After 7 years of working abroad, I decided to go home and stay here for good. Luckily, I got a job! However, it was 12-hour work plus the traffic, with mostly two or three days off and on a shift schedule. Again, the catch? No weekends off, no holiday time off, no proper sleep, and no quality time for my family, so I leave my job.
Finally! I can spend more time with my family and fulfilling my duty as a wife and a mother is the most wonderful experience ever!!! I am enjoying every minute of it and I know that all I need is to be content with who I am and with what I have and be happy and grateful for it. But the catch? I feel something is lacking...

My Journey's Realizations
So, I prayed and ask God what could be the purpose of my being? I have always believed that God has the best plan for all of us and I feel that there is something God wants me to do to unleash that "Purpose of my Being".
Then I remember my niece, Pam. She is the one whom I believe God uses to direct me to my purpose. She introduced me to the freelancing world. A world where you can have Time Freedom, Financial Freedom, and unlimited possibilities, she said! But here's the catch! I have no experience in this field nor the skills needed for this job! So she encouraged me to learn more skills suitable for this job by taking the Freelancing ( Virtual Assistance ) Course from FVA Academy.

The Purpose with a Catch!
MCG Freelancing VA Services was created with the guidance of Coach Grace Locsin, the owner of FVA Academy. It is a Personal/Virtual Assistance Services providing quality administrative service to online entrepreneurs. Through this channel unleashed my "Purpose" to serve not only my family, my client but most importantly serve God. A great catch this time!
In Jeremiah 29:11 God declares “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
